This auction is for a:
RARE VINTAGE SONY COIN-OPERATED
TELE-VEND SOLID STATE TELEVISION
This is a very cool collectible vintage television. It operates by coin. You put a quarter in and it plays for 15 minutes! Put up to 4 coins in for continuous play. It gets all VHF stations in your area. I was told it used to sit on a table in a restaurant. I think it dates from the 1960's. You don't need an cable hookup, just plug it in, and put in the money.
I was able to get several channels at my location and they come in nicely. There is some light snow in the image but not too bad for an old black and white TV. The sound is great, no static on the channels that come in. The image is strong, doesn't flip or lose it's hold.
Measures 8.25" wide x 12.5" deep x 12" tall. Weighs 25 lbs.
Condition - Terrific, clean condition with no real damage that I can see, just a few small scratches on the plastic parts and a small flake of paint missing here and there on the paint. There are a few scratches to the orange paint where the coins go in and the very bottom is quite worn with some light surface rust. There is one plastic cover missing on the UHF button, but it doesn't affect it's use, it is not loose, just missing the brown plastic part of the knob that the other knob has.
The plug is excellent, no loose parts, no damage to the cord. The box is made of solid metal and it's very sturdy and looks to have been well cared for. The only other issue is there is a few dirty spots on the screen inside the clear plastic cover, so if you take it apart, you likely could reach the screen to clean it up.
As a bonus, there are some coins inside but I DON'T HAVE A KEY TO OPEN THE COIN BOX, so you would have to have a locksmith open it up for you and make a key.
