Junghans Musical Clock
This is a Beautiful Quality Carriage Clock from Junghans of Germany, with a Steel or Chromed Body, with Glass Panes at Front, Top and Sides, a vertically textured Brass 'door' at Rear, a Large Clear Dial, and a Spectacular German Key-wind Movement, with Musical alarm, with interchangeable barrels.
The Dial is a silky Beige/Creme enamel ring, with Black hands, and large Black numerals on the hour, surrounded by Black minute Lines, against a textured Gold satin background, with Gilded frame highlighting.
The Clock has been well used but is nevertheless in Very Good condition, working Perfectly, and including its original Key, and 6 Barrels. The Dial and front Crystal are near Perfect, the former showing dirt to the Gold background. Case surfaces show friction and tarnish, and a small bump and scratch or 2, as expected. There are no cracks or chips to any Glass panes. All fittings, hinges etc are Excellent, although the Clock has lost its handle and probably a border trim at top. The Alarm works well, although it could do with some lubrication.
The alarm is set at rear, by turning the pointer to the desired hour on the Dial. The 6 tunes included are "Z'Leuterbach han i","O Sanetissima","Rosenstock Holderbluh", "Gang i an s Brunnele","Summ an mit heller", and "God Save the Queen".
The Clock measures approx 150mm x 118mm x 85mm (6" x 4 5/8" x 3 3/8").
The Movement is marked with the 'Junghans' logo, and the clock would most likely date from the mid to earlier 1900's.
This is a Qualtiy vintage German musical Clock, and a Rare find, still running Beautifully after 60+ years, and albeit hardly in Mint condition, will make a Fine collectable or provide Reliable use for many decades, so Please bid accordingly.
