Redback A 4085 "Phase 4" Public Address Mixer Amplifier
Australian designed and manufactured PA amplifier in very good condition. All functions and controls working. Cosmetically good face but some scratches on the top.
Engineered for professional PA installations, the A 4085 conservatively delivers 250W RMS power. Frequency response extends from 50Hz to 15kHz ±3dB at a total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 0.5% @ 1kHz. Voice/Vox muting, including three levels of input priority, bass and treble controls and phantom powering capability enable unparalleled flexibility for a wide scope of applications such as schools, shopping centres, workshops, mine sites and office buildings (even vocal groups - that's what we used it for very successfully!). Operates from 240VAC mains or 24VDC permitting battery backup operation during mains power failure. Output can be 100V line, 70V line or low impedance (4 - 16Ω) loads. Thermal overload protection circuit and fuses on both AC and DC circuitry provide excellent fault condition protection and robust performance.
Input configuration: Each input can be configured for either balanced microphone or line use. A dip switch is supplied for each input providing the following features:
- Phantom power on/off
- Mic or line
- 100mV or 1V line sensitivity
- Vox muting priority on/off
Three levels of priority: Priority selection is by a dip switch on the rear panel: Input 1 over 2-6, input 2 over 3-6 and input 3 over 4-6.
Overload protection: In the event of an overload, the output current is limited by the internal circuitry, thus reducing the output voltage at the speaker terminals. Other amplifiers available on the market will simply blow a fuse under this condition, rendering the entire system inoperable. The front panel ‘Overload’ LED flashes, indicating a fault with the speaker circuit.
Input Limiting: Limits the output to maximum of 110V regardless of input level. This prevents dangerously high voltages from damaging the loudspeaker.
Remote Volume: Overall system volume can be adjusted remotely via standard figure 8 cable and a 500Ω linear potentiometer located up to 100m away. Alternatively, for a neat professional finish install the A 2280 remote volume wall plate.
