RICHARD SCARRY'S BUSYTOWN Educational CD Windows/MAC

Richard Scarry's Busytown is a game that was released for a younger generation of gamers in 1999. The game consists of an interactive story book that was written by Richard Scarry. Most of the game is spent exploring Busytown looking for things with which to interact.  Twelve playgrounds are featured, each of them a place to learn and reinforce skills. From moving Bananas Gorilla around a maze to find his bananas to helping Huckle Cat serve food and drinks at Bruno's Deli to delivering items to various Busytown stores, there is plenty to see and do. There is even a chance to sing along with some tunes at the Busy Tunes Jukebox. There is also a game where the player controls the wind and can cause controlled havoc at the city park.

The voice quality of this game is realistic when compared to the cartoons of that era. All of the characters act and talk like their counterparts in the books and the cartoon series. If the player puts too much lemonade or soda in the glass and spills some out of the glass, then one of the characters asks the player "Are you blind?" in a gentle voice. Delivering stuff allows the town to slowly come to life; similar to a juvenile version of SimCity.

Games are relatively short and can be finished in about an hour. Familiar faces from Richard Scarry's works of literature include Huckle Cat and Lowly Worm.  

Busytown presents many opportunities for young children to practice and acquire skills in six major areas of development:

·         Problem solving

·         Social and emotional development

·         Physical and motor development

·         Art and music

One will find that the learning objectives contained in the playgrounds correspond to the major learning outcomes in most quality early childhood programs.

CD is in perfect condition and is compatible with both Windows and Power Mac operating systems.  Comes with instruction book and one CD in hard plastic snap shut case.
