Regarding a Central Filter or Central Splitter as opposed to an In-Line Filter or Splitter
I have received numerous requests for, and questions about, central filters.
A central filter (or splitter) is installed at the telephone line entry point to the premises
and MUST be installed by a licensed professional technician. It involves having a special telephone line installed for the ADSL Modem.
The only model central filter to meet the requirements of IP 1149 under the current Splitter Specification RCIT.0004 and thus be approved
by Telstra is the C10 Communications - Remote Splitter, C10100E - it is very expensive.
These are available from some ISPs and a limited number of Retail Outlets and, considering the cost of supply and installation,
it is far less expensive to install In-Line filters and one splitter yourself
since they just plug into existing outlets.
For these reasons I have decided not to stock them.
