You are bidding on my VINTAGE ROLAND GM-70 Guitar to MIDI Converter 1986

Complete with GK-1 pickup assembly and all parts

Fully working, well looked-after

Comes with User Manual in .PDF format

Control a MIDI synth, module or software instrument using your own guitar!

Guitarists: no need to buy an expensive dedicated guitar synth!

If you have a synth, sound module or software program with synth plug-ins, you can use the GK-1 pickup (included) and the GM-70 to play notes, control MIDI controllers, recall patches and more

6 note multitimbral!

The GK-1 pickup has 6 individual elements, one for each string, giving 6 note polyphony

Each string’s element can be set to a different MIDI channel,

so you can select a different sound for each string

Internal memory stores up to 128 patches

Each patch includes a program change command to select your module’s sound (patch)

In Mono (multitimbral) mode this saves individual sounds for each string

Many other parameters can be stored in each patch including velocity sensitivity,

transpose, controller numbers and much more

Control up to 4 synths at once using different MIDI receive channels on different synths:

E.G. use your favourite bass synth on the bottom strings and your favourite lead synth on the top strings

How it Works:

The GK-1 pickup (see photo 6) is placed under your guitar strings, using adhesive rubber (supplied)

It is connected to a small holding plate that can be stuck on with adhesive tape or screw-mounted

The GK-1 control panel (see photo 7), a small panel attached to a long cable, clips into the holder before use

The pickup acts as a normal guitar pickup as well as an input for MIDI control

(You can play normal guitar sounds, MIDI-driven sounds through your module or a blend of the two)

The first two of the 4 knobs on the GK-1 panel are Volume and Balance

(between guitar sound and your module’s sound)

The other two knobs can be assigned to any of 39 controller numbers

Two footswitch sockets and an expression pedal input on the back of the GM-70

can also be assigned to controllers to give even more real-time control

A special cable attached to the GK-1 panel connects the GK-1 to the GM-70

The GM-70 main unit is rack-mountable (1U high)

As well as footswitch sockets, it has a stereo external input for optional routing of your synth module

and stereo or mono outputs

The unit also has MIDI Out and In sockets

Connect your module to the MIDI Out to control it from your guitar

The MIDI In can also be switched to RRC In (via a dedicated MIDI socket) so that you can attach

an optional MIDI Foot Controller FC-100 (NOT supplied)

The front panel of the GM-70 has a display and the editing/ selection buttons

You can write, edit, save and recall patches from here

Condition:

All buttons work well (the number “4” button is slightly sticky if not pressed straight)

The display is clean and clear, the connecting cable has no nicks

The sockets work well and make a solid connection

All buttons work and have a positive feel

Cosmetically, the top front edge metal has a few small scratches (see photo 12)

Otherwise the unit is in excellent condition
