This biography reveals a man far more complex and actively involved in the movements of his time, rather than the usual image of a Young Apollo. Hassall deploys his discoveries in polished, leisurely, unobtrusive language. The many letters by Brooke that he includes are memorable.
4. Ephemera: (a) typewritten copy of a letter to The Listener dated 1979 from a "female octegenarian", and friend of Brooke who writes in defence of Brooke. "We WERE romantics...we were all very young and very succeptible...Rupert did not die "ignominiously"--he DIED." (b) SMH newsclipping from 1984 regarding J.M Keynes, whose (?)brother edited Brook's work (3) undated article by Beatrice Faust regarding Lytton Strachley who was connected to Brooke through Virginia Woolfe
