Order of Glory III Class #1530 in excellent condition. Made of silver and enamels. Uncut connecting ring on 5 sided steel suspension.

Low numbered Glory IIIs such as this don't come on the market that often and they are snapped up by collectors as soon as they do. Totally authentic and in beautiful condition. The number is orginal and unaltered, making this a rare piece.

Extreme rare piece as this is one of the early Glory awards that were awarded in 1943. Only 500 away from the famed 'Border Reverese', this is an excellent addition to any persons collection. Comes with Russian archive documents and English Translation.

Sergeant Kalinin was the gunlayer of the 6^th Battery of the 1013^th Howitzer Artillery Regiment, 55^th Howitzer Artillery Brigade, 21^st Dukhovschina Artillery Division, 39^th Army, 1^st Baltic Front. He served in the abovementioned front since July 29^th 1943.

The 39^th Army, in the period from August till December 1943, was firstly part of the Kalinin Front and then since October 10^th when the front was renamed, of the 1^st Baltic Front. The Army was in the active forces of the Front and participated in the advance in the northern region of the road from Smolensk to Vitebsk, passing from the northeast of Dukhovschina (Russia) – where Sergeant Kalinin’s Division distinguishably helped to liberate the city and received the honorific title “Dukhovschina”, to Rudnya (Russia), to Liozno (Belarus) to the southeast of Vitebsk.

On November 12^th 1943, Sergeant Kalinin’s Battery fought in the village Derebishe repulsing a first enemy tank counterattack from the village Novorot’e. In this battle he destroyed 3 machine guns and up to 50 soldiers and officers of the enemy. On the next day, he participated in the repulsion of the second counterattack of the enemy, destroying one Ferdinand Tank, one machine gun and up to 20 soldiers and officers. During this battle he was wounded in the chest but despite that, he continued to serve in his howitzer battery. For these actions he was awarded the Order of Glory 3^rd Class by recommendation of the Commander of his Artillery Regiment.

The villages where the actions took place are situated in the district of the city Liozno (Vitebsk Region, Belarus), in the northwestern area of the city itself on the road from Smolensk to Vitebsk.
