This rare 1943 Calendar was produced as an advertisement for Edward Williams. Benson Works, Foundry Lane, Birmingham, who produced Chain Wheels and Cranks.
'The Unexpected' is embossed across the top of each of the six pages. The artists are Lawson Wood and Scott Orr, famous for their fantastic art and amusing captions. For instance, the caption on the print of the butcher reads, 'The very minute those beautiful legs came in, I thought of you Mrs Smith'!
The border on each print is embossed and so could be efficiently removed for framing. While the Calendar has sustained some wear, the prints are in good condition with perhaps just some minor creasing on some.
I have other Calendars of the same ilk to list and am happy to wait till auctions finish so as to combine postage.
