Rare Australian Eucalypt Wooden Business Card Box

This beautiful box has a lid made from rare Australian Eucalypt Burl. The inside is lined with felt. It is the perfect gift for any occasion, male or female.

Every box purchased is crafted individually and the grain will vary slightly from the box shown above.

Sometimes called Tasmanian Oak, this abundant species grows mainly in Tasmania, but also in Victoria. It grows to a height of 300 feet with a diameter of up to 8 feet. Because they generally grow so close together, they will grow to 80% of their height before sending out branches. Its heartwood is pale to light brown with pinkish tints. This wood is often used for flooring, fine furniture building and framing for houses.

Burls can be found on many species of trees. They are irregular growths protruding from the trunk, and can vary greatly in shape and size. It is believed they are caused by parasites or insects which irritate the tree, causing this strange growth to develop, similar to how a pearl is created in an oyster. In the past, burls were discarded as waste, but they are now highly sought after for their exquisite grain and beauty. The large variety of burls used in the lids of our boxes makes each of them a unique and one-off piece.
