Rare "DQF" Blackbean Coffee Table that is so hard to find nowadays, especially in this top vintage condition. DQF or "Danish Quality Furniture", was started in Brisbane in the 50s by a Erik Petersen and his family, who migrated from Denmark. They started to manufacture Danish style furniture never before seen in Brisbane at the time. Queensland Blackbean was DQF's choice of timber for their many pieces as the beauty of the timber was a cross between Walnut and Brazilian Rosewood, was easily worked and came out with a good polish. This table is a classic example of their fine furniture. Purely functional and rational and yet so elegant and timeless in it's simplicity and use of Blackbean and rectilinear construction. This table certainly was ahead of it's time as many tables now seen in the large stores are very similar in style and design, yet of inferior in construction and materials.

The frame and legs are made of solid Blackbean while the top is bookmarked Blackbean veneer. Certainly one of the most stylish example of Mid-Century/Vintage design that will stand the test of time.

Condition is 8.9/10 as there are almost no issues regarding bumps, bruises or defects. It is excellently crafted & "solid as". Why spend money on furniture (up to $1000+ on current plastic/glass/metal models) that would be worth less in just a few years when you can "Invest" in quality upcoming Antiques like this item! Definitely an eBay bargain price - just check out Freedom Furniture & Harvey Norman or even a boutique vintage store, it's a real eye opener on what you get for your $$$!
