  Definitely a rare item!     RHODESIA 1960's & 70's Extremely Novel & Rare Piece of Nostalgia: Vinyl Record  Size - 7inch Speed - 45rpm The record contains two Audio Tracks that were produced as a Radio Advertisement for b&b Motors and were aired on Rhodesian Radio in the 1970's... Side 1 Whispering Grass (preformed by ?) F & D Fisher (written by ?) Malcolm Brown & Ken Jackson Produced by Mike Yeats at CTV Time = 1'30'' This is the main track, and is a catchy tune sung to the music of Whispering Grass. In this version, the words tell you to buy your car from or trade your car in at "b&b's"... Why? Because of course everybody knows the finest cars are found at b&b's! Side 2 Buying a Car Time = 2'00'' The secondary track is a spoken advertisement where a gentleman with an adorable Rhodesian accent offers us advice on buying a car, suggesting that the easiest way to do it is to go and see the friendly people at b&b's because they take all the fuss out of buying or trading in a car or boat. He lists all the advantages of buying a used vehicle from b&b Motors, and informs us that they are the biggest sellers of units in the country. He also tells us that all cars and watercraft sold by b&b's come with an unconditional guarantee, pointing out that this is one of the reasons for b&b's having acquired such a high reputation and so being known as the best place to go to get a trustworthy deal on a used vehicle... Beep Beep! b & b! Now, some of you may ask how it is that I came across this rare and very unique piece of Rhodesiana? Well, my Dad, Mike Burger, was one of the "b's" in b&b Motors. In 1968, he partnered up with Garreth Bruss, and as you can guess, it was because they both had surnames beginning with "B" that led to them coming up with the catchy name "b&b Motors". It was one of those great Rhodesian success stories, starting as a small used-car lot but soon becoming one of Rhodesia's most well known and respected names in Rhodesia's Used Car/Watercraft Trade. The Salisbury yard was situated in prime position on Jameson Ave, right next door to Livingstone House and nice and close to the heart of town. They soon established a second branch, a smaller yard in Bulawayo that dealt exclusively in the used car trade. The main branch in Salisbury expanded their trade to include all types of watercraft as well as used cars & motorbikes, and occasionally other larger types of used vehicles. Garreth eventually moved on, at which point my Dad teamed up with his fishing buddy Jimmy Fraser. Together, Mike and Jimmy ran b&b's for about for another 15 odd years...  Condition: Hardly played. Both sides play perfectly. Please Note: Serious buyers may contact me with their email details and I can send you a lower quality sample of each track. The reason I will only forward a lower quality sample is because this would serve to give a serious buyer an idea of just what a delightful piece of The Rhodesia Phenomenon this little record really is...while at the same time also ensuring that the record continues to be an extremely rare nostalgic novelty, a true piece of Rhodesian History...
