Q Hi! A few queries please:
1. Is motor reasonably quiet?
2. Does AC adaptor get very hot when left on (some 1A units get so hot they seem inadequate).
3. I would use it for home-cinema curtains; movie formats vary; - is there a way to stop it in various positions rather than just one pre-set position?
4. Can you demo a unit and if necessary supply at the same time to save post?
A 1. Reasonably quiet, but depends a bit on how heavy the curtains are.
2. Does not get hot, just mildly warm.
3. Yes, push button to start, push again to stop when curtain is at required position. (Or can remove power to stop.)

Q After a quote of $4000 on a Somfy system, this seems more affordable. Can you advise where I might be able to purchase the IR unit from?
A You can buy universal remote controls from any of the electronic shops like Jaycar, Dick Smith, Tandy, quite cheaply. But the point is, you don't want yet another remote to get lost down the back of the sofa. So just use a spare button on the TV remote (or video, or DVD, or Foxtel, etc) that you already have sitting there. I use the CANCEL button on my video remote because it does nothing unless I was in the middle of programming the video to record something.
