Rene Kulitja born in 1958 at Ernabella, south Australia, one of Uluru Custodians, and one of the most famous of all Australian Aboriginal artists, is particularly well known for the bright colours and bold shapes she uses in her art to describe the stories and traditions of her Dreamings and Country passed on to her by her ancestors and by the ´monumental´ artworks she has created.
In February 2002 she caused a sensation when a new QANTAS aircraft flew across the Australian skies its fuselage completely covered by
motifs of Uluru and the surrounding landscape designed and created by Rene.
She has also created and designed the slumped glass panels found in the Sails in the Desert Hotel at Ayer's Rock Resort, and the ¨Bush Tucker Stories¨ passed on to her from her great grandmothers and grandmothers, painted directly onto the mud brick walls of the Tjukurpa Piti, the area designed to teach about traditional Anangu culture, at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Cultural Centre.
