Jaguar E-Type Restoration Series 1 4.2 and Series 3 V12
Description

Since its launch in 1961 the Jaguar E-Type has been top of the ‘wish list’ for many a sports car lover. Nearly forty years on, enthusiasm for this icon of motoring history seems undiminished.

Quite naturally therefore, both Jaguar World magazine and the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club magazine, Jaguar Enthusiast, have featured restoration projects within their pages. In this book the two projects have been brought together to form a comprehensive guide for the amateur.

Jim Patten, the well known motoring journalist and self confessed Jaguar fanatic, puts together the story of the restoration of his own ‘Series 1’ roadster by Henry Pearman of ‘Eagle ‘E’ types’ While the human Jaguar encyclopaedia Nigel Thorley, editor of Jaguar Enthusiast, writes of the work carried out by Dave Marks on the JDHT Series 3 V12 fixedhead. Since the restoration of the ‘Patten’ roadster, it has been well used, and indeed, I have fond memories of the car framed in my rear view mirror, as we travelled in convoy from LiNe to Arras on the E’s first outing to France. Completion of the Series 3 Vi 2 saw its return to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, where it forms part of the Trust’s valuable collection of historic cars.

This book, with its informative text and numerous colour illustrations, will become a must for anyone contemplating work on their E-Type, from minor mechanical repairs to a full restoration.
