Takes us to a strange and and distant world whose lowlands teem with humanity but whose landscape is dominated by an immense mountain, Kosa Saag. No one has ever scaled its impossibly high and distant summit,though many have tried. Indeed, the attempt to climb the mountain dominates the ritual life of the villages clustered round its foothills. Each year  a select group of those entering adulthood departs, amid great ceremony, to attempt the journey. few are ever seen again and those who do return, sometimes years later, are either insane, or become holy men. None of them, though, has ever approached the mountain's pinnacle. Kingdoms of the Wall is the story of one such group, twenty young men and 20 young women. who set of full of hope and ambition. Once they are beyond reach of their home they enter a dreamlike new realm, a series of communities, each of them stranger than the one before, whose danger an seductions gradually strip the group of its members as they very slowly make progress towards the summit.
