Presented here for consideration is a ROYAL DOULTON Coaching Days Bone China Milk Jug. This very popular series was designed by Victor Venner and introduced in 1905 and extended until 1929 and it had been withdrawn by 1955.

Attached to my Nicholnack art in pottery web site I have created a Coaching Days Fact file regarding this series, in this fact file I show the 24 unique scenes associated with this series. This is scene 1: “Coach being harnessed, attendant bringing up a pair of horses”.

This magical milk jug bear’s the green stamped under glaze makers’ mark of the style that was in use from 1905 until 1932. Hand written in red ink on the base of the jug is the code E3804; this pattern number went into service circa 1905. Impressed into the base of the jug is the shape/size code “24”.

Dimensions

This large and prestigious jug strides in at 15.5 cm (6.12”) tall and it has a base diameter of 11.5 cm (4.5”) and it measures 12.5 cm (5”) across the top from the edge of the handle to the lip of the spout.

Condition

It is in EXCELLENT condition; there are no chips, cracks, stains or repairs and NO crazing. I have no doubt that this beauty has lived the easy life of a cabinet dweller.

Coaching days is one of Royal Doultons enduring favourite patterns. It is as popular today as it was when Victor Veneer first designed it. Please note this milk jug is top quality bone china and not just earthenware.
