Presented here for consideration is a Royal Doulton Country Garden Tray (shape 8098). This series was introduced 1929; it has three pattern numbers set against it, this is pattern number D.5929.

Attached to me Nicholnack Art In Pottery I have created a Country Garden fact file where I show the nine scenes that are unique to this series.  

This is scene 4: “Maid at water pump”. This piece has the black stamped under glaze maker’s mark of the style that was in use from 1902 until 1932. Printed by hand in red ink is the pattern number D5429. Impressed into the base is the date code 7 – 36; July 1936.

  • Dimensions

It measures 23.5 cm (9.25”) at its broadest and it is 17 cm (6.75”) the other way.

  • Condition    

It is in EXCELLENT condition; there are no chips cracks, repairs or stains and NO crazing. There is some rubbing to the very edghe of the rim – nothing really – I only really mention for complete accuracy.

Country garden is a bright and vibrant series; it has always been one of my personal favourites. This is the first time I have ever had an example of this series on this shape. Hit the BUY IT NOW tab now and make sure that you cannot miss out on this sweet heart.
