Presented here for consideration is a Royal Doulton bud vase (shape 7018) featuring the character “Bill Sykes” from “Dickens Ware” series. The scene depicts “Bill Sykes” standing in the foreground with a very Victorian scene in the background. The Dickens Ware serries was first introduced in 1908, modified in 1912, 1917 and 1931.

In 1951 a new pattern number was introduced D.6327, but production was reduced to a trickle of three or four shapes, by the late 1950’s it was stoped altogether. This scène on this vase was drawn by Royal Doultons’ art director C.J. Noke, it bears a facsimile his signature on the side – see photo above. This delight has the black stamped under glaze maker’s mark of the style that was in use from 1908 until 1931.

  • Dimensions

It measures 7 cm (2.75”) diagonally across and it stands 6.5 cm (2.5”) tall.

  • Condition

It is in EXCELLENT condition; there are no chips cracks, stains or repairs and NO crazing. There is a small kiln kiss on the face of the vase (see 1st photo just to the left of Bill’s knee) it is not really visible by sight but can be found by feel – I realy only mention this very minor production flaw for complete accuracy – it really is nothing.

I would have as a guess that this sweet heart has only ever known the refined life of a cabinet dweller. To avoid the disappointment of being out bid in the final moments of the auction hit the BUY IT NOW tab and make sure you cannot miss out.
