Presented here for consideration is a Royal Doulton Ploughing series Rack Plate. Attached to my Nicholnack art in pottery website I have collection of Fact-files regarding Royal Doulton Series Ware, along with Fact-files dedicated to Doulton Shapes I have a created a Ploughing Fact-file. In this fact file I identify 8 scenes unique to this series.

This is scene 1: “Pair of horses pulling plough with farmer steering. Written on the base by hand in maroon ink is the pattern number “D.4934”. It has the black stamped maker’s mark of the style that was in use from 1902 until 1932. It has the impressed date code 2-30; February 1930.

Dimensions

This rack plate has a diameter of 26 cm (10.25”).

Condition
It is in EXCELLENT condition; with NO chips, cracks, stains or repairs. As is most often the way with production of this style and era it does exhibit some crazing – nothing hideous mind – just enough to impart a delightful antique patina. There is also firing flaw on the rare of the plate – see photo below – this is from the time of production, it has no effect on the display potential of this beauty – I only really mention for complete accuracy.
