S I Chemical Data Third Edition is designed as a supplementary
text for students taking a first course in chemistry at tertiary level.

The chemicals included have been specifically chosen for
educational purposes to cover chemical systems studied in these
courses. In this edition the authors have introduced hazard codes
for most of the chemicals listed.

Gordon Aylward B.Sc. (Hon), M.Sc. (N.S.W.) was originator of the
Approach to Chemistry summer schools at the University of New
South Wales where he taught for 13 years before joining Macquarie
University as Associate Professor. From 1970 he has worked in
developing countries as a United Nations expert and World Bank
consultant in Science Education where he has advised in the
establishment of Institutes of Science and Technology Education.

Tristan Findlay B.Sc., Ph.D. (St Andrews) taught at the University of
New South Wales for 33 years in the School of Chemistry, first in the
Department of Physical Chemistry then as Director of First Year
Classes. His research interests are in thermodynamics, but his
main concern has been improving the teaching of chemistry.
