You are bidding on a very famous Russian doll-souvenir Matryoshka.

" Matryoshka " in Russian means "little mother" . Little is a form of endearment rather than a reference to size. Russians who left Russia at the turn of the century called them "Baba Dolls" - in other words "Grandmother Dolls".

The first of nesting dolls was made by the "Childrens Education" workshop of the Mamontov Family located in St.Sergius' City in 1890.

This one I just brought from Moscow.  It is absolutely incredible, beautiful and magnificent piece of art. I can not even explain how beautiful they are and how truthfully they reflect the spirit and culture of Russia.

It is made form natural wood and approximate size is 15 cm tall and 8cm wide (the biggest one).

Shipment & handling to Australia wide is AUD 6.00 and $2 for extra set.

Worldwide AUD 10 and $5 for the extra set.
