Adapters on ebay are commonly advertised as being compatible with "SUN, SGI, and NEXT systems" when in reality the wiring inside cannot support those systems. To make things even more complicated, these companies have different variations of the 13w3 video connector within their own product lines. So an adapter that works on one sun model may not work on another sun model. You need to confirm the adapter you are buying will work with the model number you have. Product Description
13W3-M HD15-F SGI Octane adapter
The SGI Octane workstation has a 13W3 video port. This adapter will let you use a PC-type SVGA monitor on your workstation. The 13W3-male end of the adapter will plug into the back of the workstation. The SVGA cable on your PC-type monitor will plug into the HD15-female side of the adapter. You can use any standard PC-type monitor, provided the monitor supports the resolutions/frequencies of the video card.
We have specially designed this adapter to work with both sync-on-green and NON-sync-on-green monitors. Many SGI adapters only support sync-on-green monitors. Most monitors, including newer units, do not support sync-on-green.
