FOR AUCTION IS A BRONZE SLAVE TOKEN / MANILLA USED FOR TRADING SLAVES DURING THE 19TH CENTURY , IT WAS RECOVERED FROM THE SHIPWRECK OF THE 200 TON SAILING SHIP ,DOURO, WHICH SANK AFTER HITTING THE GREAT CREBWETHAN ROCKS OF THE ISLES OF SCILLY, ENGLAND ON THE 27TH OF JANUARY 1843 WITH TOTAL LOSS OF LIFE. HER MANIFEST STATED SHE WAS CARRYING AMONGST OTHER THINGS ,BRASS STOPS BUT WHEN THE CARGO WAS RECOVERED BY DIVERS DURING THE 1970s THE BRASS STOPS TURNED OUT TO BE SLAVE MANILLAS WHICH LEAD EXPERTS TO BELIEVE SHE WAS ILLEGALLY SLAVE TRADING.
