You are bidding on VERY RARE and SPECIALLY MADE: Shortwave Ultraviolet Indicator Sphere that is made of naturally formed and mined CRYSTAL CLEAR ROCK QUARTZ and have been drilled and filled with Yttrium Vanadate doped with 2% Europium that makes them glow intensely under UV-C Illumination of 253.7nm wavelength. This has been sealed with epoxy and can be mounted into either a holder/retainer or else in the chassis of a lamp unit. This will PROTECT YOUR EYES when indicating the presence of eye-damaging shortwave ultraviolet radiation. Crystal clear rock quartz is transparent to UV-C wavelengths and absorbs under 10% of the light going in and out of the sphere so the maximum glow is attained without light transmission losses as in common glass or Pyrex. The pictures demonstrate how regular Longwave Ultraviolet Illumination does not actuate the phosphor to any great extent, whereas light with 253.7nm wavelength brings out a bright orange-red glow approximate in color to that of a 635nm laser lightsource.
