In May 1997, the Pet Shop Boys were the first pop group ever to play to a limited season in the West End. They brought a live show, ‘Somewhere’, named after their new single, to the Savoy Theatre in the Strand, for two sold out weeks.

Director Annie Griffin and a 16mm film crew spent three days with Neil, Chris and the rest of their company filming their rehearsals, their backstage crises, their technical hiccups, and also interviews with all of the people connected with the production, up to and including the opening night of the show.

The documentary, ‘Pet Shop Boys – Somewhere’ is an entertaining record of this unique event, when pop moved into the West End. A funny and surprising intimate portrait of two men who are friends, co-workers and international pop stars.
