  Comes with anti-balling plates (worth $100) that ensure that you dont get snow accumulating under the crampons. Snow balling under the crampons is the cause of many mountaineering accidents. Once the snow gathers under the crampon the points lose contact with the snow/ice and you lose your grip. With the anti-balling plates this will not happen.     As the listing say these crampons have been to the summit of Mt Everest on 18th of May 2006. I bought these crampons a couple of years ago to use in Nepal/Tibet. They have been used on a couple of expeditions. They show the usual signs of wear.Mainly the paint coating on the steel has come of in places.But if you look at the photos i have listed off the crampons you will see that the points are still incredibly sharp and show very little signs of usage.These crampons have many seasons left in them.
