Please see my other auctions for the RARE and UNUSUAL
You are bidding on a ..............Vintage 1940's POND RACING YACHT
I believe this is a restricted 36 incher class from the 1940's, a very rare yacht, not too many being in existance today and those that are, are much prised by serious collectors.
This is not a toy, but sailed by very serious sailers who in their day referred to them as miniature sailing / racing yachts
The boat is exactly as I purchased it, these boats generally boasted several sets of sails depending on the wind strength and the suite it came with would have been for heavier winds, that is perhaps how they survived , very few of these earlier boats survived with their rigs intact let alone sails?
The paint, I don't believe to be original and is peeling in several places, please see the pictures. The hull however is very sound and tight.
The hull is timber that has been hollowed out as opposed to plank on frame.
The pictures can probably tell a better story than what I can, so please be patient downloading..
This is a very nice example of one of these early pond yachts.
Please ask any and all questions, I don't pretend to be any sort of an expert in relation to early pond yachts, although I have been a collector for several years and I shall try and answer any questions you might have?
I have started the auction with an opening bid of $695 and no reserve. This in no way reflects the value of this interesting pond racing yacht but gives you the opportunity to purchase a very interesting and collectable item at a bargain price. So please bid with confidence.
