Like USA Vintage Guitars, 1950's ? This is a Supro Dual Tone, a cool little critter, the flagship solid body electric guitar of the Supro line, with two pick ups and dual volume & tone controls, hence the name "Dual Tone". Two other words immediately come to mind in relation to the Supro Dual Tone:

                            LINK WRAY.

Link Wray was an incendiary guitar player who emerged in the late 50's and has been variously described as a "rock n roll caveman" with a "guitar sound of pure violence". (Deke Dickerson, Guitar Player Magazine, Nov.2007) One of Link Wray's other tricks was to slice his speakers to make his sound "meaner". Where's the Link to Mr.Wray ? The Supro Dual Tone was one of his main axes.  Link Wray is oft-mentioned as a heavy influence on guitar legends such as Jimmy Page & Jeff Beck.

Link Wray led the way to the heavily distorted guitar sounds of the 60's & 70's. Think the theme to the TV Batman series in the 60's, that's Link being very polite n clean.

 The Supro Dual Tone features art deco styling and is visually appealing with it's white/black colour scheme which set it apart from other guitars that were seeking to imitate the Gibson Les Paul in the single cutaway electric solidbody market.

  Here's another quote from Deke Dickerson of Guitar Player:

    " The Supro Dual Tone is capable of yielding jazzy tones from it's rhythm pickup, but the magic happens when the treble pickup is selected, & the tone is rolled off which turns the guitar into something resembling a pack of snarling werewolves" His words, Deke Dickerson, that is, not mine.

This one is in great shape, considering it's age. It's serial number X88### dates it to 1958 according to the Vintage Guy web page. As with all vintage guitars, it's ultimate set up will be in the hands of its new owner but it's in good working condition, with a hard case (not the original) all that is needed is some time & tlc.
