Sweet Marjoram is a somewhat cold-sensitive perennial herb often grown as an annual in cooler climates.  It is an undershrub which grows to 30cm.  It is cultivated for its aromatic leaves which have a sweet pine and citrus flavour.  It is most commonly used to flavour soups, stews and sauces as well as with veal, beef, lamb, roast poultry, and vegetable dishes.  It also compliments bay, garlic, onion, thyme and basil.

FOR BEST RESULTS: Sow seeds in early spring into pots or modules using a soil-less seed compost. As these seeds are very small, mix with a fine sand to obtain an even sowing. Do not cover.  Water from beneath or with a VERY fine spray.  Place under protection at 20°C.  Germination should take 10-20 days
