These are hand made hair or shawl pins from Tampaksiring, Bali.
Beautifully made, these decorative hairpins look very pretty on and the ends are simple but elegant! They also make fabulous shawl pins also for loose weave/knitted shawls and scarves. The natural wood is variagated in colour and the top ends form an wide attractive square, circle and triangle each. Each stick is quite unique with its own wood markings! They give an elegant touch to your long hair when it is pinned up (see my Guides for bun instructions, especially the first Guide), and also make a wonderful gift for others. With three, you can keep the one you like the best, and give the others away to special friends (or keep two and give away one, or keep them all!!!).
This single stick hairpin measures approx 2.1 cm in width at the end and 15 cm in length (usable length is 12 cm), weighing approx 26 gms the three together. (Save in price and postage to have the three sent to you together!) They are made from Sono wood, a sustainable and durable hard wood which holds up well in moving to dry colder climates, and has beautiful markings. It is much more common than other tropical hardwoods of comparable beauty - some of which have been sadly overused and now have become rare. These are listed as multiple items, so they may differ slightly, being handmade from a natural material.
This product is made in Tampaksiring, a little town in the centre of Bali. We first spotted these lovely hairpins in Yogyakarta and bought some there, and by an amazing coincidence we met the maker while travelling home via Bali. We buy direct from the maker – resulting in fantastic prices for you!
