This beautiful silk is from Vientiane, the
capital of Laos. It was woven thread by thread on a traditional wood loom over
several days and the silk is light and very soft. The lovely natural colours
were achieved using dyes developed from extracts including indigo, wild almond,
jackfruit wood, linmai, lacquer and annatto seeds. The silk ends in fine
tassels. It
is an impressive textile that would make a rich and exotic addition to any
home décor. It could be used as a wall hanging, bed or table runner.
