About the Author
Peter Vaughan is a graduate of the Academy of Culinary Arts and has
worked in many top-class hotels and restaurants around the world. He
has received many awards, including the prestigious Annual Award of
Excellence.
He owns and runs The Healthy Life, a natural food shop and cafe, and
The Bistro, a restaurant, in Devizes, Wiltshire. His policy is to use
and stock products that are traded fairly and kept as close as possible
to their natural state. In this way he aims to provide the healthiest
diet alternatives to adults and to give children a really good start in
life.
As well as running a business, he also finds time to do cookery
demonstrations all round the UK and has appeared many times on
television. One of his appearances was with Jennie Trent-Hughes, who
has written the forward for this book. Together, they were the 'Dinner Doctors' in
the Channel 5 series of the same name, where their mission was to help
families with food problems, mainly connected with children's eating
habits, and offer practical solutions.
Through the Academy of Culinary Arts Adopt-a-School scheme and the
Wiltshire Food Challenge, Peter has worked in a number of schools,
awakening children to every aspect of food and nutrition, thereby
encouraging them to eat a naturally balanced diet. As a promotional
chef with a well-known baby food manufactuer, he is conversant with the
nutritional needs of babies and toddlers.
