Scan Slides to DVD - 35mm Slides to DVD – Slides to CD - 35mm Slides to CD - Photos to DVD - Photo restoration - Photo Slide Scans

****JULY****   EBAY Special 25 slides scanned, colour matched and exported to disc ( plus free extra safety copy)

Many people that took their photography seriously would use slide film for their art. It’s now likely that they haven’t looked at them in sometime because you would need a projector and screen to view them. As with regular photographs these film based formats will continue to deteriorate age and a service that we now provide is to transfer 35 mm slides to DVD or CD Rom, our skilled staff will transfer your slides to a digital format so that you can once again view these family memories.

Can you improve the quality of my old slides?

View an example of what is possible through photo/slide digitisation and restoration, photo slide scan examples.

Slides that have been kept well stored will often produce excellent results when transferred. Sometime the slides have been stored poorly and have been covered in dust, have small hairs on them or are reversed or upside down. Sometimes though even slides that have been kept safe will show signs of aging - such as the colour turning a pinkish colour.

How we prepare the slide work for scanning

We need to carefully view the slides, orient them correctly and prepare them for scanning.

Generally we scan at a high resolution so that if they need to be printed out a good sized image can be printed. Scans can be converted to other resolutions for website applications, high quality print applications or for video or DVD use.

Typical scan resolutions are 72 dpi for web images, 200-400 dpi for presentation or small print applications or video usage. For high quality print we may scan from 600-1200dpi and for archive purposes we can scan resolutions up to 4800 dpi.

Bear in mind that file sizes increase rapidly as you increase the dots per inch. This is important if the images are being used for presentation use such as Powerpoint. Large file sizes may slow down the loading time in these applications. We will also discuss your expectations and image use to advise you on the most appropriate image sizes for your needs. We can output images in a number of resolutions for you during the production process.

How we improve the quality of the scanned slides

Electronic processing can be done to try and improve the quality of the slide images, Software enables us to reduce film scratches, sharpen and to stabilise the colour of the images.

Like 8mm films sometimes the slides will go pink-ish or lose other colours as they age. Processing time is increased to do this work but the results are more than worthwhile.

We will assess the slides prior to starting the work and inform you as to the overall condition of them, prior to going ahead with the work. We can then do a straight transfer (unprocessed) or treated images to meet your budget.

What formats can I output scanned slides to?

Final scanned images can be outputted to CD Rom, DVD Rom, Hard Drive, USB Thumb Drive or uploaded electronically via our webserver as required.

Auto Run presentations can be made to play on DVD so they can be viewed on TV screens. Library music and voice overs can be added to the presentations to complete a multimedia presentation.

Thumb Drives Hard Drives, DVD and CD Rom are convenient formats for storing your images, but it’s important to store the discs securely and handle the discs with care at all times. Scratches, fingerprints and poor handling can make your discs play erratically or even stop playing entirely. Hard Drives should be run regularly and backed up securely and Flash or Thumb Drives should always be copied across on to another medium in case they are lost or damaged in day to day use. We would also recommend that you keep the original slides for as long as practical just in case there is a problem with one of your copies and you can always re-scan the slides in the future when technology has improved.

We answer your Common Concerns and Questions

1. My slides and pictures are very precious, is it safe to post them?
We have not had a problem with Australia Post losing or damaging items and have regular parcels from all over the country. However, we recommend that you take additional precautions by sending your slides by Registered Post so they can be tracked (or via a courier such as Australian Air Express or TNT).

Once you place an enquiry through our website we know to look out for a package. If it doesn't show up within 3 working days we'll send you an email so you can get onto the post office (or courier) immediately.

By doing that you will minimise the risks, and it's better to get them transferred now rather than let them deteriorate any further.

2. My slides look old and faded. Are they still worth scanning?
Our scanner can do an amazing job of restoring colour and removing dust and scratch marks. We're always happy to check them out first for you though and advise you accordingly if you have any doubts. We can even do a test sample for you to ok. You can then decide whether or not to go ahead with the rest of the slides.
