So Many Partings by Cathy Cash Spellman, historical romance.

So Many Partings is the story of the Dalton family beginning with Thomas Dalton illegitimate sone of an Anglo-Irish aristocrat and an Irish housemaid. After a turbulent childhood in Ireland, Thomas Dalton ships out to America and becomes another immigrant in the teeming street life of New York in the early 1900s. The only jobs for the impoverished Irish are on the docks where a mans life is worth just as much as he can haul in a punishing days work. There he meets Diamond Jim Mulvaney, the man who will take him from the poverty of the dockland and intorduce him to the lonley, but rich world of big business and the raucous corruption of the new politics.

This is a hardcover book, 1984 edition and is in good condition. It has 603pages.
