Solar Australia - Australia At The Crossroads

THE BURNING QUESTION -

"Just how much national effort
would be required to produce any
sort of helpful contribution from
solar energy and when would we
be likely to see the effects in the
Australian way of life?"

To attempt to answer this question a major study was
carried out by the Foundation for Australian Resources.

This study is based on an extensive computer simulation,
in which the "Club of Rome" programmes were modified
for Australian conditions, and provision made for incorporating
Australia's solar  energy potential.
It provides quantitative information to assist Government
planners and a basis for informed public debate.  The seeds
of destruction inherent in "Club of Rome" work, and which
caused considerable criticism have been overcome.

Alternative scenarios are evaluated in each of which solar
energy is given a different emphasis and degree of urgency
ranging from apathy to rescue from an energy crisis.
