Cerberus Coins presents an Ancient Roman coin of the Emperor Tetricus I found in modern day Spain as part of a larger hoard of coins predominantly of Tetricus I, Tetricus II. Theres a lot of sellers out there stating that all roman coins are hoard found - THEY AREN'T! These coins are often found by themselves.

**All our coins are guaranteed authentic for life**

Size:  15mm  Weight:  1.6 grams

Obverse:  Radiate draped bust right

Reverse:  Spes standing left (some encrustation from the other coins this one was found adhered to!)

GAIVS PIVS ESVVIVS TETRICVS was serving as Governor of Aquitania in 270 when Victorinus was murdered.  Through the influence of Victoria, Victorinus' mother, Tetricus was hailed as Augustus of the Gallic Empire, and his son, also named Tetricus, was made Caesar.  In 273 the Roman Emperor Aurelian decided to subdue the Gallic Empire, and invaded Gaul.  The armies of Tetricus and Aurelian met in 273 on the Catalaunian Plains and after a brief struggle, Tetricus surrendered.  He graced Aurelian's triumph in 274, but was pardoned and made governor of Lucania.  He died of natural causes in old age.
