This microscope for transmitted light features a high quality metal body. Of course, the eyepieces and lenses comply with the standards of the German Standards Institution (DIN). The precision holding device including mechanical stage assists optimal positioning of objects. It goes without saying that this microscope features coarse and fine focusing drive for exact focusing.
Ideal combination of eyepieces - only available from Seben:
We supply this microscope with a perfect combination of eyepieces: 10.0x + 15.0x + 20.0x!!! Unlike other vendors supplying only a selection of 10.0x + 12.5x + 20.0x. You should take in consideration that the step between 12.5x and 20.0x is quite large while the step between 12.5x and 10.0x is rather small. The 15.0x DIN eyepiece is an ideal intermediate size and complements the other two eyepieces much better! You will have an optimal spread of powers and additional purchases are unnecessary. For this reason we have integrated this important intermediate size.

Dynamic objectives by Seben:
Dynamic objectives have the fantastic advantage that the tip of the objective is elastic. Thus you are always on the safe side. You will prevent damages to the objective, the ocular table and the microscope. The objects you are looking at are always in focus. This feature you will not get with cheap offers or similar microscopes. Therefore you should trust the quality of the high tech microscopes of Seben.
Storage of the high quality Seben objectives:
Of course, we supply our objectives in a dust and moisture proof multifunctional packaging. The air and gas tight container with screw-on lids may also be used as container for samples and specimens.
Design of the objectives:
The thread of the objectives is made from a brass-copper-alloy in order to prevent jamming or rust over time.
Mechanical stage by Seben:
The mechanical stage is intended to adjust the specimen accurately without manual handling. When you shop around, you should always pay attention to the fact that the microscope has a mechanical stage. Microscopy is only fun with a mechanical stage!
Workmanship of the Seben SBX-V:
The microscope features first class quality, even in the small details. We use only the best annealed optical glass! The combination of the best computer based high technology with the precision workmanship results in a state of the art stereo microscope.
Illumination:
The build-in 220V/240V illumination with lens focusing ensures always a perfectly illuminated image.
Koehler illumination:
The Koehler illumination got it's name from Professor August Köhler. ("Zeitschrift für wissenschaftliche Mikroskopie", Volume X, Page 433-440 (1893)) It is used in high quality microscopes for the even and bright illumination of a specimen in the area required, so that the illumination is not too strong. In addition, disturbing light reflections (e. g. from the tube's inner walls) are prevented to a large extent. Perfectly illuminated specimens are especially needed in the area of micro photography for quality purposes. Let us take a specimen (e. g. diatoms) and look at it without the Koehler illumination. You can see the image is very much out of focus and blurred. That is not a good basis for high quality observations. On the contrary! Microscopy is no fun at all like this and does not lead to good results. If the Koehler illumination is used, the difference to normal illumination becomes immediately apparent. A much better contrasted image can be enjoyed!
