THE STIRLING ENGINE

The Stirling engine was invented by Robert Stirling, a Scottish minister, in 1816. The early Stirling engine had a history of good service and long life up to 20 years. It was used as a relatively low-power water-pumping engine from the middle of the nineteenth century to about 1920, when the internal combustion engine and the electric motor replaced it. With fuel prices continually on the rise now is a good time to understand what a Stirling Engine is and perhaps build one yourself. The ebook is illustrated, 50 pages in length and is comprised of three papers on Stirling Engines plus a patent showing a hot-air machine from the late 1800s.
