Dear Reader, Have a look at this lovely “Fillerton’s Ltd, England Willow” cup and saucer dating from about 1899. The cup is 9cm or 3 and a half inches in diameter and is 6.5cm or 2 and a half inches tall. The saucer is 6 inches or 14cm in diameter. Although the rim of the saucer is slightly chipped, the cup is in good condition, except for a little crack in the little handle, which is so delicately made with precision and beauty. The Chinese-inspired Willow Pattern was copied by the potters of Staffordshire at that time in order to give their customers exotic items which would transport their imaginations away from the drudgery, hard physical labour and the rain of Victorian England. And when one examines the patterns, it REALLY DOES WORK! You will be transported to another world of trees, temples, exotic birds and ornate lattice-work. THIS CUP AND SAUCER IS ANCIENT AND MAGICAL!!! Stunning Example of Late Victorian Staffordshire Willow Pattern |
