This Authentic 111Year Old Unframed Print is a part picture from Sir Robert Stranger's Original engraving, published as a heliogravure in 1894. It is Printed on a cream- coloured chain linked paper and is in excellent condition- the print comes with the original tissue paper letter press title page that has protected it for over 100Years.

What is an Heliogravure?

It is an old print method using chemicals to make printing plates for intaglio engraving. The work is reproduced on a metal plate by photographic transfer before paper and pressure are applied to produce the print. Some artists found this a practical way of transferring drwings to copper plate, some reworked their plates by hand, according to traditional etching techniques. This item is a stunning example of this old print method.
