Fran isn't really as sweet and compliant as she seems; she's quite feisty and liberated. When she dates the gorgeous Steve, she discovers he's a dreadful bore. When she dumps him, the pace picks up: Fran uncovers the secret of her parentage, foils a drug-dealing scheme and falls in love with the boy who was waiting in the wings. The book's got it all: a touch of humour, natural writing style, some suspense, some adventure and some romance. The main flaw is that too much happens.
