A Superb Quality Georgian Scottish Sterling Silver Large Stuffing Serving Spoon, in the Elegant “Old English” Pattern
Made and Fully Hallmarked in Edinburgh in 1808 by the Noted Silversmith Alexander Henderson
12½ Inches Long, Well Over 3 Ounces of Solid Silver

This is a Large and Imposing Georgian Scottish Sterling Silver Stuffing, Serving or Gravy Spoon, in the elegant pattern ironically known as “Old English”.

This handsome Stuffing Spoon was made in Edinburgh in 1808 in fully hallmarked Scottish Sterling Silver by the noted silversmith Alexander Henderson.

This is an impressive large piece, twelve and a half inches long, and of good gauge, weighing well over three ounces of silver.
Overall it is in excellent condition, the bowl long and strong with no edge wear, and with a fine polished patina as shown, with no engraving.

This is a handsome large piece, exhibiting fine workmanship.
The stuffing spoon is twelve and a half inches long (12.5 ins or 31.75 cms) and has good heft at well over three ounces (3.3 ounces or 93 grams) of hallmarked sterling silver, a fine confirmation of its excellent quality.

The serving spoon bears the clear Scottish hallmarks shown above.
The hallmarks are the duty mark, the head of King George the Third, the triple turreted castle the town mark for Edinburgh, the thistle guarantee mark for Scottish sterling silver and a letter “c” the date letter for 1808.

The makers’ mark is the large clear initials “AH” for the noted Edinburgh silversmith Alexander Henderson.
