SWAMP BANKSIA

Banksia robur

(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)

Native to Queensland and New South Wales, this tree prefers light to medium, moist soils in a sunny, protected position. It is frost hardy but does not like extended periods of drought.

An evergreen shrub, it grows to 3 metres and spreads 3 metres. The stem is stout, branching and gnarled. The leaves are discolorous being rusty brown on the underside and green on top. They are broad, leathery, prominently veined with deeply serrated margins.

The flowers are cylindrical spikes, 17cm long, blue-green in bud and yellow-green when open.

Offered is a packet of 15 seeds and Grownotes.

All my seed is posted in bubblewrap protection.
