Carex appressa, known as the Tall Sedge, is a spreading tussock grass which may grow to 80cm to 1 metre tall.

The plant produces stiff, dark green stems and leaves.

It has red-brown flower-heads in spring and summer. The flowering spikes are dense, erect and narrow, usually around 10cm long although they have been recorded up to 45cm long.

It grows well in boggy positions in swamps, beside streams and in shallow ponds in full sun. It is also very adaptable to drier areas.

For sale is a packet of 50 fresh seeds.
