Flocking is a unique product used in many fields, especially the advertising, ceramic, wall covering, auto and craft fields. It is a FLOCK that consists of tiny fibers, uniformly cut to provide a soft attractive finish, which when applied in the correct manner; it gives the appearance of velvet. It is applied to an adhesive coated surface and provides a durable finish to craft and shop projects. COVERAGE: For ordinary application, a small amount of flock covers an astonishing large area. On the average, one pound of flock will coat an area ranging from 60 to 100 sq. ft. A 1oz bag will cover approx 3 sq ft (depending on if you reclaim the excess). Coverage depends upon the method of application, density, thickness, and type of adhesive. Give your project that realistic look and feel with flocking!! Our pkg contains rayon nylon loose fibers that when applied over an oil-base paint with an applicator, it gives an even nap and the appearance of velvet. The color of the flocking can be changed by the color of paint you use as a base; such as white applied over any color will give a pastel look. The fibers are 0.30" denier length and are uniformly cut We have over 30 colors available and we also carry a water base adhesive which allows you to apply it to fabric also. Flocking can be applied to wood, ceramic, glass, leather, fabric, plastic, vinyl, and other porous surfaces. Great for lining jewelry boxes, bead boxes, dollhouses, miniatures, model cars, ceramics, woodwork, scrapbooks, picture frames, personalized cards, use on porcelain dolls, restoring old dolls such G.I. Joe, and many more projects. It is very popular on duck decoys, lining pool cue stick carry cases, applying to the grips of fishing poles, and many more uses. Instructions are included.. If you purchase 10 bags, you only pay $5.75 priority mail within the APPLICATION PROCEDURESTEP 1: Finish your piece as you normally would (apply all fisnihsing touches except anything that contains sealer in it such as glitter paint, etc). After the piece is dry, line a box big enough for your piece to set in. with newspaper or tissue paper. Fill the applicator (a squeeze bottle) 3/4 full of suede. STEP 2: Starting at the bottom, apply the oil based paint or glue adhesive to the area that you want to apply the flocking. Be sure to use a soft sable brush so that it does not drag the paint or glue. Apply a good coat of either, but not runny. If you notice that the paint is starting to look dull in spots, dab some more paint on in those spots, otherwise the flocking will not adhere properly to those spots. STEP 3: With your applicator 3/4 full of suede, apply with short bursts and holding at least 8-10” away making sure that you have the area covered well. Hard bursts or to close to the piece will cause flocking to blow back at you instead of on the piece. If you are working on a large items such as Santa (for example), do it in sections. You would apply the suede to his pants first then his jacket, and lastly his hat. Always start, at the bottom. STEP 4: When you have finished applying the flocking, let the piece sit for 1/2 hour or more before blowing off the excess flocking. DO NOT TOUCH THE PIECE WHERE YOU JUST FLOCKED! This would crush the suede fibers into the paint or glue. After you blow off the excess flocking (either gently blow it off or use an empty pump and do it gently) you may pour your excess flocking back into the bag for reuse. If you are wanting to use more than 1 color of suede on your piece, YOU MUST LET EACH COLOR OF SUEDE DRY 24 HRS. BEFORE APPLYING ANOTHER COLOR (if using oil based paint). You apply the darker color of suede first and then the lighter colors. You may apply 2 different colors of gloss at the same time to your bisque to give your suede a two-toned effect. (ex: blue suede applied over white gloss and light blue gloss will create a two-toned effect). If you are using our adhesive, you can either let it dry overnight or heat set it in the oven for 10 minutes and then move onto your next color. STEP 5: Wait 24 hours and then either blow on your piece or use a vacuum to remove any more loose fibers. You may proceed with the second color now, or if your piece is finished, spray with a light coat of fixative (preferably porcelain)to set it.
