Acer tataricum, known as the Tatarian Maple, is a deciduous, large multi-stemmed shrub or more often a small tree, growing to 5-7 metres with lovely Autumn foliage. It is native to southeastern Europe and western Asia.

Leaves are opposite, 5-10cm long, 3-lobed, but central lobe is much larger than side lobes. Leaves of mature tree nearly unlobed. Colour is medium to dark green and turning lovely reds and yellows in Autumn.

The greenish-white flowers appearing in panicles are quite ornamental.

Fruits are winged and are typically numerous and showy during Spring. They are red and lasting almost a month before turning brown.

Full sun is best, but can take some light shade. Performs well in cold climates. Makes a great bonsai specimen too.

For sale is a packet of 30 fresh seeds.
