Each large sheet is approximately 50 cm(20 inches) x 76cm(30 inches) of coloured Lokta Paper.

The large sheets make it possible to do many different craft projects successfully.

Please take a look in my shop for more Nepalese paper and treasures. I also stock the paper in a great range of plain colours as well as embroidered and paper textured with leaves and flowers from high up in the Nepalese mountains

Each sheet weighs approximately 25 grams

Lokta" paper is made using an age old paper making tradition from Nepal in the Himalayan mountains. The paper is made from the fibers of the Lokta plant rather than wood pulp, and neither chemicals nor machinery are used during its production. The Lokta plant grows at high elevations between 5,000 and 10,000 ft in the mighty Himalayan range. When the Lokta plant is harvested for paper making it is never removed from the soil or completely destroyed. The bush is cut very carefully and accurately so as to allow the plant to regenerate itself, making it a self sustaining and renewable natural resource. The bark of the Lokta bush is washed and soaked in water from Himalayan rivers, mashed into a pulp, then dried in the sun. Lokta paper is washable,(carefully dab with damp cloth or sponge) and is much more durable than typical wood pulp paper. Lokta paper also registers a neutral PH balance, making it an acid free paper. Besides just being sensible and environmentally friendly, Lokta paper items are also very unique and attractive
