Many professional multimeters now have deep receptacles for the “banana plugs” of their test leads. This accommodates the long safety sheaths on our high quality test leads (see “Safety”). Alligator Clips: Fully insulated and easily screw onto probe tips. Made with strong steel and strong hinge rivets, ensuring correct jaw alignment for longer life. When used on low voltage (eg automotive) work, the jaw sheaths may be easily cut shorter with a knife as shown. PROTRONICS also have limited stock of spare screw-on alligator clips.

Banana Plugs: The long safety sheaths of the banana plugs, if used on multimeters with shallow test lead receptacles, may need to be cut shorter with a knife as shown in the picture.

Probes: The very sharp probe tips are hardened to ensure resistance to blunting through constant use. For this reason the tips are not easily bent, which also means that if you do bend them through excessive force, they will snap off. The probe handles are double insulated. Each tip has a radial groove to help prevent slipping off narrow objects.

High Quality: By reason of frequent flexing in normal use, all test leads are prone to internal wire breakage. This is a common reason for failure multimeter failure. Many multimeters have been discarded simply because of faulty leads. This need for constant flexing of the internal wire strands requires buyers of test leads to pay special attention to the quality of wire strands and flexibleness of the insulation covering. The very fine wire strands used in this lead set ensures that they are less susceptible to breakage than other coarser stranded leads. Additionally, their thick Silicone Insulation ensures that they stay flexible in very cold weather and can withstand high temperatures without melting. Their thick insulation prevents kinking.

Safety: If a test lead connected to dangerous voltage becomes dislodged from the multimeter, an exposed banana plug can cause electric shock. Likewise, it can be dangerous if the user comes into contact with the exposed alligator clip jaws of such a lead. Therefore, the purpose of our long sheaths on both the banana plugs and the alligator clip jaws is to ensure added safety for you, the user. Also, the thickness of the Silicone ensures excellent insulation.

2. After you receive it, if the item is not what you want, before you open the manufacturer’s package, pay the postage to mail it back. When received, we will give you full refund of the sale price, less our original postage or shipping and handling fees and costs. If it shows signs of user abuse or damage, we will request payment from you for the additional postage cost to return it back to you.
