The case that challenged men and governments.

Stripped of sail and stained with blood, the Cuban schooner Amistad carried into American waters 39 African natives who had mutinied aboard.  The legal questions raised - were the men heroes or murderers?  were they free or slaves? - rocked the nation.  Even President Van Buren became involved.  The outcome affected U.S. relations with Spain for the next twenty years.

This 267 page softcover has creases and heavy wear to cover.  Internally there is browning/yellowing due to age, but it is otherwise tight and clean.  Not the prettiest of condition, but a very good reading copy at a cheap price.
